DESERT MOUNTAIN AZ. Tomorrow will be the first round of the SouthWestern Women’s Am and Jordan will T off at 7:40 am Pacific Time. (Click for Pics and More).

As usual Jordan has not let any moss grow under her feet. She arrived back in Pound Ridge last Sunday (May 31st) and practiced in the afternoon at RockRimmon before joining her dad, The Freys, and a couple of her closest buddies from Dwight for the Sunday BBQ. Monday she was forced to practice in a Sim in Mount Kisco because Rockrimmon and all of her other local standby clubs were closed. The guy at the spot gave her the cold shoulder when she simply asked for a bay to hit until he noticed her Notre Dame golf bag and inquired if she in fact played for the Irish…her affirmative answer changed the whole show and she was given the red carpet treatment. Membership truly does have its privileges. Those old enough to remember that commercial will get it. On Tuesday she practiced in the morning then went to the city for her friend’s graduation from Dwight and to spend a couple of days with her buddies.

She returned from the city late Thursday night, and played a round with ScooterPie, Uncle David, and dad. Guess who won? Actually, she played a stroke play match with David giving him a stroke per hole and lost. Bad way to go for her as he negotiated the right terms because straight up stroke play she beat him by 15 strokes. Saturday she and dad went to Erik Mason’s graduation party at Westchester Country Club early, then she played with the pros at RR in the afternoon. Early to bed, then she left for the Airport at 4:15 on Sunday morning for her flight to AZ. After collecting her gear she drove to Tucson to spend the afternoon with her Fairy Godparents, SJ and Steve where they plus K9 Tilly watched Jordan practice before a great dinner and a two and a half hour drive to Desert Mountain.

Yesterday B had her practice round, her first time playing in the desert. She hit the ball beautifully and braved the heat of which there is plenty. The vast beauty of desert is truly breathtaking and the course is in fantastic shape having recently hosted the Men’s 4 ball.

Ok, some updates around scheduling and the rest of the summer tour….Jordan has now officially been accepted into ALL 5 of the Elite Amateur Series! The first was the Sea Island last week in Georgia. This week is the SouthWestern here in Arizona. Two weeks from now is the North & South at Pinehurst in North Carolina, after that is the Women’s Western in Elmhurst Illinois, and finally the LNGA in Columbus Indiana.

The Elite Amateur series is actually a sort of mini-tour and each event gives you points toward an overall cup winner of the summer. The link below is for that scoreboard. B currently sits at 16 after the first event.
