Ok, before we go into the NY State Jr. Am details we first have a loop to close from late last week, the RLX Polo Ralph Lauren Jr. Invitational at Beth Page Black. The official final leaderboard was actually not published until today which is why there has been no blog, there was nothing to report. Now we have facts, and so we are reporting….B finished 9th at the Polo, her first top ten finish in an AJGA Invitational and another fantastic accomplishment. This was a very strange tournament in the way that it got scored and how one got to advance or in Jordan’s case, how one got cut. Let’s explain……

Players were sorted into 8 individual “Pods” of 4 players. In the first round Jordan as the 32nd (last) seeded player was paired with the number one seed. She fought super hard and took her opponent to the final hole where Jordan missed an 8 foot putt and her opponent sunk a 25 footer. For that victory, her opponent received 10 points as did everyone in each pod who was victorious. For a tie, the player would have gotten 5, and for a loss, they got zero. After this first round, Jordan’s destiny was really no longer hers as the top seed who she lost to would have had to have lost one of her two remaining matches for Jordan to advance. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Jordan would go on to defeat the other two players in her pod, the number 16 and the number 17 both great victories but her fait was sealed when she lost to the number one as only she would advance with the winners from the other seven pods. So, only 8 advanced but many had fewer points as they could have lost or tied one of their 3 rounds but them was the rules and when all of the points were tallied, B had a top ten finish even though she did not advance. All right, enough of that tournament, it is over. Here is just one photo from the Polo. It was 105 degrees in the shade.

Jordan and SuperMom returned to Bedford at around 6 PM last Tuesday night and mom started the thankless job of unpacking and both she and B took two full days to rehydrate and feel normal again. Jordan actually took the entire day off on Wednesday, then went back to practicing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, went to a graduation party on Saturday night. On Sunday B played 9 holes in the morning while SuperMom put the finishing touches on packing and at 4:30 they began their 3 hour drive up to Saratoga Springs for the NYSGA Junior Amateur. Today was the practice round and tomorrow starts the tournament.

Jordan will T off tomorrow at 8:20 off of hole number 1. Just a bit of history, Jordan won this in 2023, lost by a single stroke to her buddy Sophia Li who she had stripped of the title (Sophia won in 2022) which is exactly what Jordan would like to do to her over the next 54 holes. To do so, she will have to go through 49 other players who are here with the very same idea. 18 holes will get played tomorrow and after that there will be a cut down to the top 24 who will play 36 holes on Wednesday, 18 in the morning and another 18 in the afternoon.
