PALM HARBOR, FL. Jordan misses the cut today at Innisbrook but once again proves that she is a warrior in what turned out to be her highest scoring 9 holes in years. (Click for pictures and more.)

”Day 2 was not ideal💀,” Jordan Beryl Levitt responding to her very dear friend Keith Oragan’s question, “How was day 2 on the course?” Great answer that may the the understatement of the spring tour so far.

Jordan’s Scorecard from today…not a keeper

Today B got to the putting green for warm up at 6:30 and needed a flashlight to warm up. She T’d off at 8:10 off of hole number 10 and carded a double bogey on the first hole. She parred the next three, then again doubled 14, her fifth hole. 15 was a par, then she did the unthinkable…She doubled 16,17,& 18. She has NEVER EVER done this. Never three doubles on nine holes and of course never back to back. At the turn, many would have simply withdrawn from the tournament.

At the turn, dad suggested to B that there would be no shame in withdrawing, coming back to fight another day. Her answer was to go to the washroom, wash her face, put on her best smile and T off. She would par 1, 🐥2, par 3 & 4, bogey 5 & 6, and par 7,8,& 9 to card a very respectable +1 on the back under normal circumstances, but a HEROIC achievement after going +10 on the front 9 with 5 double bogeys. Could not be more proud of her if she had won the tournament.

This is a very very tough sport that one plays all alone. Jordan has developed the skills necessary (with some incredible teaching from Coach Carl Rabito and Jerry Yochum before him) to be able to shoot -5 or even -10 but this requires your head to be in the perfect spot. With all that a soon to be graduating high school student on her way to play D1 golf at Notre Dame 4 weeks before graduation with 3 AP exams and 5 finals plus a ton of final projects to even try to compete at this level is a lot to ask. Some days are not going to go as planned and today was simply one of those.

She will put this behind her quickly as a week from Monday she will attempt to qualify for the 80th Annual US Women’s Open. She was granted a qualifier spot at St. Clair Country Club in Belleville IL. She and SuperMom will travel to Illinois on Saturday for a practice round on Sunday before the qualifier on Monday. This is one of the most brutal qualifiers in all of woman’s sports; 36 straight holes without a break. A 9-10 hour endurance and skill marathon. Of the 85 qualifiers (a number of whom are tour players right now) the top two lowest scores will go to the OPEN. Our very close friend David Sirkin will be on the bag for this very exciting opportunity. He has been a part of B’s journey since the beginning first caddying for her during the summer of 2020 at the Atlantic City Jr Open where she was in the 13 and under category.

This mud pit was the driving range.

That’s all for now. Next blog will be on Sunday Night from Illinois to share the T time and leaderboard from the US OPEN qualifier for those who care to follow. Finally, thank you to our friend Debbie Kaplan who lives on the Innisbrook resort and came out to watch Jordan and keep dad company for a few holes this morning. Appreciate all who follow the B.

  1. I agree with you

It takes tremendous mental concentration to play good golf.

The mind has to be fully clear of everything. It being an individual sport there is no one else to count on.

With all the end of the year exams etc. It had to be very difficult for her trying to play competition golf. Congratulations to her for sucking it up and playing a good back nine.

This shows a great competitive golf quality that most don’t have. I know i would have probably walked off course but she didn’t. Great for her!!!

    Fantastic attitude and determination.

But now that school is over she can get down to business.

Hope you have a great Summer

    Looking forward to following you.
