PALO ALTO, CA. Jordan finishes her first AJGA Invitational with a top 3rd spot of 21 out of 72 shooting 75 on the final day. (Click for photos and more).

Today the putter continued to cause damage on what was a dazzling display of ball striking T to Green. Only missing two greens B had one double bogey, 2 bogeys, and a staggering 15 pars. Unfortunately, there were no birdies despite 7 legitimate birdie opportunities, many within 5 feet. To quote David, “It was criminal that her score was not markedly higher as she was throwing darts with her 3 wood.” That about sums it up. Despite the fact that this course was so incredibly long, and as it was so wet with ZERO roll it played even longer, Jordan used her 3 wood from 200 yards out like a surgeon wields his scalpel. Shot after shot landed perfectly within striking distance from two football fields away even causing the Vanderbilt coach watching on one hole to whistle.

The putts simply would not fall. B said afterwards to dad and David, I just could not get comfortable over the ball today.” A striking change from day one where it seemed that her putter and the hole were connected by an invisible string. Anyway, that is golf. Everything has to be perfect to win at this level. B proved to herself and AJGA that she belongs at this level finishing in the top one third of this field, her best “BIG TOURNAMENT” finish by far. There will be many more to come but she can hold her head up high with pride from this one. She and Coach Carl will fix the putting and another piece of the puzzle will fall into place. Have to remind her often that playing golf for only 4 years competitively makes her still a newcomer to the game and her accomplishments in those four years according to both Coach Carl and Coach Jerry Yochum, “I have never seen it done before.”

That’s all for now. Next tournament in a few weeks and we will be back to blog again. A big thank you once again to David Sirkin for flying coast to coast to walk the 7.5 miles each day with dad and cheer B on. Grateful for all of the support from all who are reading this blog.

three cheers to the AJGA for posting this sign
