Day 2 continued the difficulties of day 1 at the Elite Invitational for Jordan who ended the day tied for 32nd place shooting a six over 78.

The front 9 were a bit baffling as Jordan struggled to get her distances right on her shots into the green. She actually did something that she has never done before….She went 0 for 9. She did not hit a single green in regulation. She bogeyed 5 of the first nine without a single 3 putt. It was actually quite astounding that her score was as low as it was considering she only hit 5 on the back where she was actually bogey free until 18. She had no birdies, 12 pars, and 6 bogeys on the day hitting a total of 5 greens in regulation. For those who don’t really know golf, this means that she had a staggering 7 up and downs on a day where she did not make a single putt longer than 5 feet. To her credit, she kept it together and never lost focus even with such a difficult round. Very few players can do this and still put together what was actually a very respectable back. Hats off to her composure and persistence after that front 9.

As we have said before, golf is the only sport where you can not win 95 plus percent of the time and still be a superstar. The tournament is the “Real Deal”. Jordan has a lot to be proud of being invited to this event. There are NO mediocre players here. Any one of these athletes could have won on any given day. This is the privilege and the curse of playing at this level. You can’t have a bad round and do well. Too much talent in the room. Everything has to go your way to end up at the top of the leaderboard when you have this kind of field. B will have to get used to that as she gets ready for college and plays at the D1 level. There are 300 D1 teams each with 10 players of which only 5 get to dress for each event. This means that at the D1 level, of the hundreds of thousands of junior golfers who have tried to get there, only 1500 will ever have the privilege of playing. Every kid here will be one of those. 42 girls started on Friday. Only one will be champion.

Coach Carl spent some time talking with Jordan last night and taking apart the round. As we said earlier, there was some really good stuff in there and she will try to build on that today to climb the leaderboard a bit. Time to go out and just have some fun. Last night was more homework, Italian take out, and a bit of TV with dad. Car is all packed up and she will return to Orlando after this last round where she will T it up at 8:36 off of hole 10.

Jordan will have a few weeks to work with Coach Carl before the next stop on the fall tour which will be the Sunshine State Amateur at Royal St. Cloud in Orlando November 25th – 27th. That one will be nice for her as she gets to sleep in her own bed for that week. SuperMom will get a little break from packing and unpacking.

That’s all for now. We again are humbled by the interest Jordan has generated with our friends and family as over 200 of you read yesterday’s blog. Another big thank you for all of the support.

waiting to begin
