The Dixie Amateur comes to a close and Jordan has her first Woman’s Am in the bag…a really wet and wind burned bag.

In the most brutal conditions 108 girls/woman went to battle to try to win this thing. First, you had to get an invitation, then you had to be brave enough to play in what can only be described as some of the hardest in golf. Wind that often gusted over 40 mph, course conditions that went from slightly wet to completely water logged. This made judging how hard to chip or putt damn near impossible. Nothing rolled out on the drives so you better hit it far and straight. To give you an idea of how hard the conditions were, last year the winner of the tournament after 72 holes was -9 (Nine under par). This years winner took it at +4 (Four over Par), 13 strokes more then last year and the players this year were better ranked then last.

Jordan ended up shooting 74-81-76-76, plus 23 for the tournament making the cut and finishing in 25th place. This means that she bested 77% of the field (83 players), quite an accomplishment against mainly division 1 college athletes. It was not the result that she had hoped for, but it was better than she had a right to do. She was exposed to dozens of college scouts, a number of whom introduced themselves to Coach Carl and dad. It was an amazing experience all around though grueling to say the least.

B’s play was a study in contradiction. She made the hard stuff look easy, but the easy stuff looked hard. Today she hit 15 greens and had 8 legitimate birdie opportunities (putts from inside of 10 feet) but left 7 on the edge. As Coach Carl assured dad, “They will fall, it just takes time. Jordan started playing competitive golf in August of 2020. We all forget that sometimes. “ Today she also had 2 double bogies. She has not had a single one of those since August. One of them was a 3 putt from 3 feet away. On the other hand, she had a shot from between 2 trees that had to bend in the air from 178 yards out, staying beneath the canopy and land 8 inches from the edge of the green. Another yesterday had to go over a 60 foot tree only 30 yards away and landed 6 feet from the cup. Physics would have told you that it was not possible but she cleared it by inches. On Friday, when they moved a T box forward her two playing partners chose to lay it up in front of the water. The only other option was to blast it between two trees with only 20 feet between them 130 feet from the t box and land it in a fairway barely 40 feet wide 225 yards away. Gutsiest play Coach Carl had ever seen. You know the path she chose. Today a driver off the deck on a long par 5 to put the ball 10 feet from the green. She came very close to holing out for an eagle. You get the idea. Watching her is fun and she is having fun doing this. On a final note about Jordan’s play, Coach Carl was approached by the dad of another golfer playing in the Dixie this morning who informed him that Jordan made the biggest move in the rankings this year of anyone in Junior Golf. Period. No idea how to verify if this is true, but was nice to hear for sure.

On Tuesday she and Carl will go to Sebring FL for a practice round for the 68th Annual Citrus Golf Trail Ladies Invitational that B will play December 27th to December 30th. This will be another 72 hole tournament and obviously Jordan’s last event of the year.

To Cap off the weekend, Jordan met Mike Thomas, Justin Thomas’ father at a rest stop on the way home this afternoon and they shared stories about their tournaments this weekend. Jordan at the Dixie and Mike at the PNC father son invitational he played with his super star son. They took the picture below.

Another shot from yesterday’s monsoon.

Sunshine Coin Laundry sponsors the 6th hole.

Just before Jordan’s brush with fame dad snapped this picture. Does anyone think that reading this changed someone’s plans for where they would drink from? Made the blogger giggle out loud…

That’s all for now. We will be back in a few weeks with updates from the Citrus. A very special thank you once again for all of the amazing encouragement for Jordan. This one was a doozie.

”I survived the Dixie and all I got was this stinking sweatshirt!”

  1. Wow….first I have to say to your Dad…. Best blog yet. You really created the feel of this wild tournament. And the excitement of how you played. Without question you are a superstar when it comes to bringing out the best and hardest shots of the day. And I still can’t believe you ladies had to play in such awful conditions….but I guess this is what champions are made of….congratulations on surviving this incredible worst weather tournament….there should have been a trophy for that💕😂

  2. Wow what a challenge this one was – but you hung in there and did so well – the weather was not for sissies. So proud of you Jordan. “The first Woman’s Am in the bag”. Love you – and love the road signs your observant Dad managed to catch on your way home. gramma jerie
