Long days of travel are the norm these days when Jordan travels for golf and this first leg of the Western Tour proved no exception. She woke up at 5:30AM Saturday and was driven to Newark for her 9:55AM direct flight to Calgary. As usual, SuperMom had packed her up until midnight and the amount of gear and clothing is quite substantial. Temps in Calgary will make a low of 38, where the real feel in Missouri next week will cross 100.

Flight left on time, landed in Calgary 20 minutes early, and all of the luggage came out right away…..well, all except one bag. Can you guess which one?

A very annoyed B telling the nice Air Canada people that, “No, it is not possible for me to simply borrow someone else’s golf clubs for her US Woman’s Amateur Qualifier.” For those who read this who do not know golf, standard clubs are not made for 5’4” girls that can hit a ball as hard and as far as Jordan. They simply don’t exist. Her clubs need to be custom crafted and fitted for her. It requires 4-5 hours of careful measurement on a simulator with a master club fitter and then 6-8 weeks for the build followed by another few hours for final adjustment. If the clubs don’t arrive, Jordan needs to withdraw from the tournament. As this is simply the only qualifier that fits around her schedule (hence the reason she is in the middle of nowhere Canada 75 miles north of Calgary) this would take away any chance she has to play this years US Woman’s Am.
Anyway, back to the story……The Air Canada lads tell her that her golf clubs never made it on the plane (thanks jackass, we know that as we have an AirTag in the bag that shows it is still in NJ and the baggage area is empty) but they would put them on tomorrows only direct flight arriving at 1pm. Problem with this wonderful solution is that her practice round is at 10:10. After 20 minutes of phone calls, they tell her that they have been re-routed through Toronto and would arrive at midnight in Calgary and be immediately delivered to her up in Sundre at her hotel no later then 1:30am. Of course their promises gave her zero confidence but it was what it was at that point.
Our very close family friend John Daniel flew in from Montreal (we will have pics of him in tomorrow’s blog) to spend time with Jordan and dad and watch the tournament. John arrived a few hours before Jordan and was waiting curbside when she came out clubless.
Jordan wanted to see the course and find out if perhaps they had a set of sticks for her to use so she went to Sundre Golf Course. The amazingly nice and kind staff there put together a bag for her of discarded clubs and the assistant pro leant her his set of 15 year old irons and his prized 12 year old Scotty Cameron putter so that she could go on the course for a first peak. Even with those broom sticks she put together a pretty respectable round.
At dinner at a place called The Original T the attention was focused on watching to see if the clubs in fact left Toronto evidenced by the Apple GPS tracker hidden in the travel bag. Happily, they did. Now the wait would begin.
At midnight local time, 2am EST, dad got the first glimpse of the bag in Calgary. He watched it move across the terminal then stay stationary for for an hour. At 1am he called the customer service team to inquire if they would be keeping their promise to immediately deliver the bag. After 47 minutes on hold the nice gentleman in Mumbai (no joke, the bloke is actually in Mumbai, he said so) told dad, “I can’t get a hold of anyone. My best advice is to call back tomorrow for an update. We can then hope to get the bag delivered to you before the end of your holiday.”
At 2am (4am in NY, exactly 24 hours since he woke up) dad got in the car and drove 75 miles down the mountain to Calgary Airport with GPS tracker in hand (on B’s phone….oh, he took such shit for that as you can imagine) and stormed the Air Canada baggage claim just after 3:30am where they handed over the only thing that really matters on this trip, B’s clubs. Now it is 4:45am, clubs are sitting by B’s bed and dad is back in bed writing this blog.
Well, that’s all for now. A very happy Fathers Day to all. Time to go to sleep for a couple of hours. Practice T time is today at 10:10 (with her clubs…yay!). Tomorrow her tournament T time is 8:44am. Not sure if there is a live leaderboard but we will post if there is. Top 2 go to Bel-Air in August.

The most chill dog ever hanging at the airport in Newark
If her travel and practice schedule was not tiring enough, she had to weather a clubs mishap!
I’ll be watching.
