Today on the front 9 Jordan played golf as well as the game can be played. She finished the front with zero bogeys, five pars, and 4 birdies. On the back, she carded 2 bogeys, and 7 pars to finish the round at -2. With seven holes to go, Jordan was in solo first place at -4. Superstar Lilly Zhang from Buffalo proved to be just too hard to beat with her 3 stroke lead from day one. Jordan did in fact beat her today by one stroke having the low round of the day which she shared with the third place finisher who ended the tournament 3 strokes behind her. 4th place was 4 strokes behind Jordan, 5th place a staggering 15. Jordan and Lilly will no doubt battle it out many times in the future. Though almost half the field was from FL, the top three finishes went to the girls from NY.
Jordan did not win this tournament, but she had a major milestone in her young golf career; For the very first time she carded “Only Red Numbers” for the whole event (that is what they say when all rounds are below par) and that is a huge step in the right direction.
Next week Jordan will travel to Palm Beach Gardens to compete in the Honda Junior Classic. She arrives on Wednesday night and will play practice rounds under the watchful eye of Coach Carl both Thursday and Friday before she T’s it up on Saturday for the start of this two day tournament.
Thanks to all who reached out to us today to let us know you were following. A special shout out to Yirong for making the trip from Chicago to be here for today’s round to watch his Gweilo niece. Also, Lyla who followed and encouraged her big sister for the last two days and did it with joy and positive energy.
Thats all for now. We will post again from PGA National next week on Friday when the T times for Saturday are released.
