Jordan shoots -2 to end day one of the Eagle Creek Holiday open in a 3 way tie for 2nd place. (Click for Details and pics).

Just like last year when the two players from the Iceland National Team showed up at the last minute, this year there were three surprise players. One was from the Canadian National squad, one is a girl that is 18, already has a scholarship to play D1 next year but is taking a gap year so is still eligible to play junior golf, and finally one (the leader) is ranked 15th in the world by Rolex in her age group. What started out as an easy warm up tournament for the B before the Honda has turned into a proper battle and Jordan showed up to play.

As per her pattern (she did exactly the same thing at the Junior Worlds in Torrey Pines this summer) Jordan bogeyed hole one. She would then go on to par 2-8 and 🐥9 to end the side at even. She parred 10, 11, and 12.

On 13, a par five, B had a tremendous drive and was about 200 yards out. The other two she was playing with both hit their second shots and had some distance to go to get on the green. They looked over at Jordan wondering why she was not hitting. Jordan answered, “There are still players on the green.” They then realized that the 15 year old was going to go for it. The 18 year old with the D1 scholarship already tied up and the 17 year old who also has her scholarship in the bag were waiting on the sophomore in high school to take her shot. Jordan measured 205 yards to the flag. She says that she hits her 3 wood 200 yards pure. She hit the ball 15 feet past the pin, then 1 putted to sink the 🦅 and go to -2.

The Adrenalin was pumping and she bogeyed 14 with a three putt. 15 & 16 were both 🐥’s to take her to -3 and the lead for a brief time. She would bogey 17, and par 18 to finish the round at -2 and in a three way tie for 2nd place three strokes off of the leader who smashed the round with a 5 under par performance.

Some statistics for the golf fanatics. Today Jordan hit every fairway except one. She also hit every green except one. The hole that she missed the fairway was also the same hole that she missed the green. Her drive went behind a tree that she had to punch out. It was a par 5 and she went up and down to save the par. She had three 3 putts on the round today, her only bogeys. She had 3 birdies and 1 eagle.

Tomorrow she will play in the last group (that’s for the leaders). T time is 8:51 off of the 1st T.

Thats all for now. As always, we are super appreciative of all of the comments and good wishes. Super Mom, Crazy Amazing sister Lyla, photographer Yirong and Dad will be in attendance tomorrow.
