This course is gorgeous, the competition is FEROCIOUS. Pin placements for day one were inexplicably complex and challenging with winds gusting to 20 knots from the ocean. The greens at Torrey Pines are unforgiving and those that can’t place the ball with precision play this course at their peril.
Jordan got a taste yesterday for what the best in the world 15 to 18 year old girls look like and she bested 100 of them on her first day out. Today promises to be interesting as this tournament is a marathon and not a sprint. This is Jordan’s very first 72 hole Championship and for golf, the leaders on day one are seldom the same by day 2,3, & 4. This tournament is being played from 6300 yards which is LPGA distance, not 5800-5900 as most junior tournaments.
The lowlights from yesterday’s game were the three 3 putts. The highlights were plentiful. Jordan hit 16 of 18 greens, 88.8%. To give you some idea of just how accurate she is, the entire LPGA tour hits greens in regulation 67.45% of the time. Every drive Jordan hit was long and straight and put her in range of where she needed to be. She somehow missed every bunker on the course, not an easy feet. She had one 🐥and three bogeys. Her worst hole was a bogey, no doubles or worse. After a bogey she immediately got right back to it, no time wasted on replays in her head. This shows a maturity in her game according to coaches Jerry and Carl that is way beyond her 22 months of competition golf.
Jordan started yesterday on the 10th hole which she bogeyed. She immediately bounced back to 🐥 11, then 3 putted to bogey 12. She would then go on to par the next 9 holes before another bogey, her 3rd and last of the day, then parred the last 5. For the day, 3 bogeys, 1🐥, and 14 pars. Really a fantastic first day under huge pressure for the B.

Jordan was followed yesterday by her grandfather, Selwyn, Coach Jerry, Cousin Linda, and Dad. A special thank you to Linda for making the 2 1/2 hour drive from Santa Monica to watch Jordan play. It was Linda’s very first time on a golf course. She came with a car full of freshly baked goodies that she made for Jordan and her family.
Today B’s T time is at 7:50 from the 1st T. She will play with the same two girls that she played with yesterday. It is currently 5:30 am here in California and the apartment is buzzing with activity as Jordan prepares for competition and the all important PB&J for tournament fuel is assembled.
That’s all for now. Thank you for all of the texts and emails. Jordan truly appreciates it as do we all.

A very annoyed Jordan before leaving for the match showing her mom her outfit, scowling at dad taking the picture.

The numbers sound good to me.
