Jordan wearing her first place medal in Ohio

Today Jordan played the qualifier for the AJGA Junior All Star in Boardman Ohio and won. Though this is a qualifier for the tournament, the AJGA looks at it as a tournament in and of itself. There were 22 competitors from 8 states and Canada who played today. Quite a few were like Jordan, playing the qualifier as an extra practice round, and some were looking to win a spot for the tournament that starts on Tuesday. All of them wanted to win. For only the second time in Jordan’s golf career she is as Carl likes to say, ”Fighting in her own weight class.” The AJGA Junior All Stars unlike the Junior Opens are only for girls up to age 15. The other major tournament that she competed in at her age group was the Honda Junior Classic in February.

Jordan would shoot even par today on a course she had never seen or played at. She would end up carding 2 bogeys, 14 pars, and 2 🐥’s for a 70 and that would be 2 shots better then 2nd place at 72.

Jordan’s Scorecard

The AJGA is the top Junior tour in the country and the most competitive to get into. This was an important day for Jordan and hopefully she can continue this level of play into the actual tournament that starts on Tuesday with back to back rounds on day one. Tomorrow is the practice round. The AJGA does interviews post round that Julie was able to partially capture. We will post them and then send links when they are actually on the AJGA website.

A big Happy Fathers day to all of the dads out there. A big thank you and congratulations to Carl Rabito and Jerry Yochum on Jordan’s first place finish today. Jordan would definitely not be here without the work that both of you have put in to coaching her.

A special shout out to Sarah Zheng on reaching the semi finals of the Western Amateur this week. It was a tournament full of top D1 players from all over the country who came to play and Sarah played brilliantly taking down many of the them and almost reaching the finals. Sarah is another of Carl Rabito’s students who had a big week. Carl’s player Theo took down a mens event this week shooting -7 for the two day event. It is not luck that is propelling team Rabito’s players to victory, it is his dedication and his technique. We are lucky to have him coaching Jordan.

That’s all for now. Thank you for following and for all of the encouragement. We will leave you with a great shot that Julie took today. Yirong, you have been slipping and Julie may climb into the spot of top photographer if you are not careful! You are going to have to work very hard at the Junior Worlds if you want to retain your position. We can’t continue to pay you $1 a year if you don’t get to it!

Pre tournament. Amazing photo supermom.
