JORDAN WINS AT BETHPAGE. In an absolutely wild round of golf, B emerges victorious. (click for pics, videos and more).

On a shelf full of trophies, the one that has eluded her this past year and a half is the one that reads, “CHAMPION” but that is over. Jordan shot a two day total of 7 over par to best 26 other girls ages up to age 18 to claim her prize.

The round today though was anything but straightforward. There were huge highs and massive lows where Jordan did not only open the door for her opponents nipping at her heals, she would open the entire side of the barn, the windows and the skylights. After the first three holes, it looked all but certain that she was not only going to lose, but that she was going to embarrass herself doing it. The superstar who so many of the girls (and their parents) were in awe of yesterday came crashing down to earth and it was ugly. Only way to explain is to walk you through the game….

Hole 1 was a bogey. Hole 2 was a bogey.

Hole three was an unmitigated disaster, a quad. Jordan faded her drive into a patch of trees. Instead of simply chipping out, she decided that she could go over the trees and end up close to the green…The tree did not agree and spat her ball back at her. Now she was hitting three, which she chunked. Fourth shot would finally get clear of the trees and she would chip her fifth shot short of the green. Sixth shot was on, then two putt for 8. Jordan was +6 after 3 holes and it looked extremely bleak to those who were present. The jackals were sniffing around and there was very little to be happy about. The good news, actually the only news that mattered, was that nobody told the B, and Tyrannosaurus ROARED back to life.

Hole 4 is a par 3. B would hit off the Tee to within 7 feet of the hole and one putt for 🐥. Now +5

Hole 5 is a par 5. A tremendous drive followed by an incredible chip put her 12 feet from the hole and in range for an Eagle attempt that lipped out (video below) and ended up as a second 🐥, now +4

Eagle Putt Attempt

Hole 6 is a par 4. Drive went into the thick stuff under a tree. Second shot had to be a low ”BB” to get under the tree and landed on the green but as it was a low shot, it had no chance of holding and rolled off the back. Third shot was a chip to within 12 feet which B would 1 putt to make a dramatic par save. Still +4

Hole 7 is a par 3. Great shot on to the green, and another 🐥, the third of the day and brought her to +3.

Birdie putt on 7

8 was a routine par. 9 was another par.

Hole 10 is a par 4. B was on in two and drained a 15 foot putt for her 4th 🐥of the day. She was now at +2.

Hole 11 is a par 5. Great drive. Second shot would roll over the edge of the hole lipping out for what have been an eagle stopping 6 inches from the hole for a tap in 🐥, her 5th of the day, and she was now +1.

IN 8 holes, Jordan would sink 5 birdies, and three pars narrowly missing TWO eagles. For that stretch, her most successful 8 holes of her career, she shot -5 to shock the field and climb right back on top. Her three opponents, their parents, and this blogger along with his friend Mark Stewart who came out to support B today were mesmerized by this incredible rebound. The other girls in the group were demoralized to the point that they could barely play, finding themselves almost cheering Jordan on.

12 was another routine par.

13-18 were not great for Jordan. The adrenaline would finally get the best of her and she would bogey 5 of the last 6 holes ”airmailing” (flying the greens) on every one. B was simply too amped up and not able to continue her incredible streak, but by then she had already won the match. In the end she would win by 2 strokes over second place but not before almost killing the nerves of those who were watching her.

As we eluded to earlier, our good friend Mark Stewart came out to watch Jordan today. A big thank you to Mark for keeping Jordan’s dad company. Mark was originally going to stay for only 9 holes but decided he was having just too much fun and stayed through the end of the round and the awards ceremony. Mark is an NHL official who is an off ice officiant at all of the Rangers home games. Jordan had the quote of the day when she inquired of Mark before the start of her round, ”Now that you have come to observe me at my job, Can I do the same at yours? Preferably during the playoffs?” She did not make much headway as you may have guessed.
