JORDAN has a very very difficult day one in Celebration. (click for more).

No way to sugar coat yesterday’s round, it was a heartbreaker. As we all know, this blogger is about as biased as one can get, and even he was left scratching his head. Just a little background of recent play, Jordan has turned a corner in her game. As coach Carl put it, her game has ”matured.” As a matter of fact, B has not carded a round over 75 in the past three weeks and she plays at least 9 holes every day of the week. She played the practice round at Celebration on Friday, a course she had never been on before, and shot +3 on the front and -1 on the back for a 74. As Yirong Z often reminds me, ”A Practice Round is not indicative of the score she will shoot in a tournament.” Yesterday he was right for sure. When Jerry Yochum handed over the reins of head coach to Carl, (Jerry is still a very big part of Jordan’s crew and we are forever grateful to him and really look forward to him joining us at the Junior Worlds in July in Torrey Pines) Carl stated, ”It takes one year to perfect a swing, and one year to learn how to play golf.” He reminded Jordan’s dad this morning that we are really one year and two months into this process. He said yesterday was completely normal. Anyway, lets break yesterday’s +14 (86) down hole by hole…….

Score Card Below

Hole 1, Jordan drove the ball across her body and into the water. With the penalty for the lost ball, she was hitting 3. Her chip came up short. Shot 4 was onto the green but far from the hole, 2 putt for double bogey. Hole 2 was a par. Hole 3 was a 3 putt for bogey. Hole 4, a par 5 was a great drive, the chip was short of the green, but she went up and down for her first 🐥 of the day. Hole 5 was another par 3. Jordan made the wrong club selection and was short of the green. Her second shot was also a miss as it landed on the green but 40 feet from the hole. She would 2 putt for bogey. Hole 6, the next par 5, she had a tremendous drive. She was on in 2 and would 2 putt for her second 🐥. It looked like she was getting her feet under her but unfortunately that was not the case. Hole 7 was a great drive. Second shot to the right of the pin, just short of the green, pin high. Chip on was text book, 7 foot putt need for par which was missed, tap in bogey. On 8, a par 4, B’s had slipped and the drive went bad. Second shot was into the woods but findable. At this point, our reporter on the scene, mom, observed a glove change. Something that Jordan should have thought of in the 90 plus degree heat but obviously learned from and will not do again. After a good recovery out of the woods, she was on the green. Unfortunately she would 3 putt for a double bogey. Nine was a par 4. Drive again pulled to the left landing over the cart path and onto an adjoining hill. Second was short of the green. Third was a bad chip on, 2 putt for another bogey. So the side ended at 42, +6.

Ten was a par 4. Drive was again left into a bunker. Second shot was short of the green. 3rd shot on, and putt would stop on the lip of the hole robbing her of the par, tap in bogey. 11 was par. There was no more reporting from the field after that as the round truly spiraled out of control. The rest we have to interpret from the score card but the recounting of it was anther lost ball leading to a triple immediately followed buy another double, then a bogey, a 🐥 (third one of the day), two more bogeys and a finish with a par for 44 on the backside and a total score of 86. In summary, Jordan would have one triple, two doubles, 8 bogeys, 3 pars and 3 🐥’s for the most erratic and highest scoring round since July 27th of last year when she shot an 87 in Missouri after carding a 10 on 17 with two balls in the water.

Hope that answers all of the inquiries we have received and the concerned texts, phone calls and emails…all of which make us profoundly grateful. Mom and Carl will again be out there today braving 96 degree real feel temps and will hopefully send pics and videos and commentary for this blog as we are only able to report it as we hear it.

Current leaderboard

B sits in 18th place after day one, 13 shots from the leader. She has her work cut out for her but has 36 holes still to go. Let’s hope for an Allen Sirkin ”Moving up DAY!” Her T time is 10:02 from T box 1.

This is the link to the live leaderboard for those who want to follow.

Thats all for now and we will leave you with a few videos from warm up yesterday as that is all that was transmitted from the paparazzi Thanks all.

  1. If the scored was based on love, kindness, grit, determination, dedication and intellect B would be in 1st place every time. Alas, she’ll enjoy moving up to her rightful place based on her ability.
