Jordan had a rough go of it yesterday in her first qualifier for an LPGA Major. She was paired with two tour professionals and her nerves got the best of her. She finished the day in 44th place out of the 66 who started the day which was actually a big improvement from the 56th place she was in after the first 18 holes.
T off was at 8am from number 10, a par 5. Jordan’s drive was great. Her second shot would hit the edge of the green and roll back into the bunker. She would go on to double the hole. Who knows how the game would have gone if the ball had simply bounced forward toward the hole at impact rather then backwards into the sandbox. She would have had an opportunity for an eagle putt and her head may have been in a very different spot. Alas, that is not what happened and Jordan had one of the highest scoring rounds of the last year that she has been competing. This was a 36 hole tournament and the first 27 holes were not a representation of how she has been playing of late. On the 10th hole of the second round she got it together and would shoot 2 over for the back 9 including a birdie to end the day.
Overall, it was an incredible experience for Jordan. When she was finally able to conquer her nerves, she was able to prove to herself that she could actually compete with the best of them. This was her first qualifier, but it will definitely not be her last and one of these days in the not too distant future, the ending to the blog will be very different.
On Saturday, Jordan will return to Junior Golf and compete at Eisenhower Park in a Met Jr. PGA event. Her T time is at 2:32 and we will post a link to the leaderboard on Friday.
A big thank you once again to Matt Gunther and Norman Lewis for graciously hosting Jordan for practice rounds at Morristown. Thanks to Darren for being on the bag yesterday for 36 straight holes for 10 hours. Yesterday Jordan was lucky enough to have our very close friend John Daniel from Montreal with her for the day as well as her grandfather and Coach Carl. Thanks to all who support The B with your texts and emails, calls and notes.
Thats all for now until Friday.
Random shots in the morning of the warm up. Look carefully and see how many professionals you recognize. There is a big tour event that begins tomorrow morning in NJ which is why Jordan’s qualifier was so full of talent.

Jordan, you have to be proud of yourself for how far you have come and all the people supporting you. PJ and I will continue to follow you as you move up the ladder.
Love,
June
