Jordan is in a four way tie for thirteenth place after day one of the Hurricane Mission Inn Jr. Open. (Click for more).

The field of 38 girls who started today’s tournament is extremely tight heading into day two. B is only 6 strokes out of first place, 5 strokes out of 2nd, and 4 out of 3rd. One stroke better and she will be in the top 5. With her 7 over par today Jordan is still very much in the hunt.

Top half of the scoreboard after day one.

Today’s course has a fairly unusual layout where the front 9 is a par 35, and the back is a 37. Jordan started out smoothly parring holes 1 & 2. 3 & 4 were bogeys. 5 & 6 were also pars, and they would be the last ones until 11. B had a four hole streak of bogeys, a first streak like that for as long as we can remember. She finished the side at 5 over. On 11, Jordan silently said, “NO MORE,” slowed down her backswing, got deep and would par 11 & 12 then birdie 13. 14 would be a double, then B would par out the round with plus 2 on the back to get to her total of plus 7 on the day.

Jordan’s Score Card from Today

This was not an easy course in that it was very narrow and the greens were the size of postage stamps. To be successful one needed to be extremely precise with the distance control. It took Jordan a bit of time but she was finally able to dial it in. Tomorrow will be “Moving UP Day,” to quote our very dear friend Allen Sirkin.

Yirong brought out all of the big lenses for his camera today and hid behind trees to capture great shots of B.

Tomorrow’s T time is 10:48 and opposed to today’s 85 degrees and sunny, we will have 72 as a high with a 70% chance of rain and wind. Enjoy the Super Bowl everyone and thanks again for all of the great emails, texts, phone calls. Thats all for now. We will leave you with the fantastic images that Danny took of Jordan today. (Click on the images to enlarge). Danny, truly grateful for all of these plus your advice but mostly for your friendship. Safe home tomorrow morning.
