This weekend is the Southern States Central Florida Junior Qualifier for the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship…(Click for more).

This tournament is a direct path into the National Championship in November that will be televised on the Golf Channel. Last year, Jordan made the initial cut, then she did not advance past the second round.

Jordan was invited along with a small number of other girls to bypass the quarter final round and go directly to the semis; the top two finishers from this weekends tournament will secure their spots.

During this past week the weather in Florida has been very uncooperative. It has been cold (31 degrees on Monday), windy, and just downright miserable. On Monday morning, Jordan endured a 2 hour and forty five minute frost delay. On Tuesday and Wednesday, B and Carl played through the driving rain. Through it all, Jordan completed three practice rounds there this week to familiarize herself with the course. Tomorrow, competition will begin for Jordan at 11:10 in what is being predicted to be the coldest weekend in Florida in decades.

This course is difficult. It is at the Mission Inn Resort about an hour north of Orlando often called

“Mission Impossible,” by those that play it. Hazards are everywhere with a number of doglegs, trees that seem to pop out in the middle of the course, narrow fairways, tons of beach front real estate, and plenty of water. The number one handicap hole on the course is known as ”The Devil’s Delight.” Shots there need to be precise both in direction and in distance and with winds predicted to gust over 30 miles an hour, scores are going to be high.

There will be a live leaderboard for those who want to follow. Link is below:

Yirong (Danny) Zheng flew in the this morning from Chicago to watch the B in action and will follow tomorrow and Sunday along with coach Carl and Jordan’s dad. Great surprise for us and we sincerely appreciate his continued unwavering and enthusiastic support.

Danny and Dad out with Jordan for the pre-tournament dinner this evening.

Glad to see that they clarified this for us.
Pairings for tomorrow in the girls 14-18 year old division.

Thats all for now. Thanks everyone.
