Jordan shot an 80 today to end day one tied for 7th place in the Championsgate Open (click for more).

It was a beautiful New Years morning at Championsgate with temperatures in the low 70s with no humidity for the first day of the tournament. Jordan had a strong opening drive on the first hole but the round was pretty flat for her. She would end up with 6 bogeys, one double bogey (she lost a ball) along with eleven pars. Unfortunately not a single birdie would fall though she had plenty of opportunities. There were no particular highlights and nothing terribly bad, just kind of a blah round. A top 5 and possibly even a top 3 finish are still in Jordan’s reach with a strong performance tomorrow. Sarah and Danny Zheng along with Coach Carl and Dad were in Jordan’s cheering section.

After the round, Jordan hit some balls on the range with Sarah and Elena Zreik who came down from NY for a week in Fl and the tournament. The three would also embark on an epic putting contest the results of which have not been disclosed to the writing department for publication.

A special shout out of congratulations to Elena for her performance on her opening 9. Elena had one bogey, 5 pars and an astonishing 3 birdies to lead the tournament at the half with a career best -2 at the turn. Elena is only 11 years old and has an incredible career in front of her. We look forward to witnessing more of her success during the summer at the Met PGA events back in NY. She had her mom and dad plus brother Anthony in attendance to witness her epic play. Proud of you Elena!
