Another week of intensive work with Carl Rabito will end this afternoon just in time to start the next week tomorrow. Happy Halloween. (Click for more)

Jordan arrived back in Orlando on Monday and started back up with Carl on Tuesday afternoon after an exciting weekend at Bethpage. Interesting to note, Bethpage this past weekend was exactly one year from when she played her very first Metropolitan Jr. PGA event. At the event in 2020 B carded 82/82 for the tournament for a total of 164. This year, 76/74 for a total of 150 and a 14 stroke improvement in one year.

We are often asked “What is Jordan’s handicap?”. The answer right now is 0.2. Interestingly enough, in tournament golf they use a different measurement known as a differential that is a slightly more complicated formula.

A “Handicap Differential” is the difference between a player’s adjusted gross score and the USGA
Course Rating of the course on which the score was made, multiplied by 113, then divided by the Slope
Rating from the tees played and rounded to the nearest tenth. If Jordan shoots a 79 on a par 72 course with a rating of 73 and a slope of 135 the formula would be as follows….79-73 = 6 × 113 = 678 divided by 135 = 5 (handicap differential)

Exhausting for sure, but hey, we don’t make the rules and we are learning as we go here so just sharing! Jordan’s differential now according to the Junior Golf Scoreboard (this is where they rank the kids 19 and under who are not yet playing in college or have gone pro) is +4.77. To put it in perspective, it was a +13.96 before this playing season in April. The number one girl in the world, Megha Ganne who made headlines in the spring as a Junior in High School because she led the US OPEN after the opening round is -8.96. This is long winded for sure, but we keep getting asked by friends and family how she is doing and besides saying “great”, here are the actual numbers. So…lots of progress, lots of room to still advance.

We are now 13 days out from the Optimist Tournament of Champions at PGA in Palm Beach Gardens. Allen and David Sirkin will watch Jordan compete there for the first time. They are both a big part of why she is playing golf. This tournament will be the culmination of an event that actually began June 5th at Eisenhower Park during a Met Jr. PGA tournament when Jordan shot a 76 on day one to qualify for the Optimist International Tournament in July at Doral. Funny part was that neither she or her parents even knew that the score on day one was a qualifier event and that she finished the day as the top 14 year old to earn her spot. She would end that tournament at Doral in 6th place out of 66 girls (TOP 10) gaining entry into this final leg of the tournament in two weeks. Again, her clueless parents had no idea that there even was another final match. Hey, a year and a half ago we were simply swim parents, give us a break. Learning curve here is pretty steep and we are not that bright!😋

A word of caution about the videos below. Carl takes these during B’s training and sends them to her so that she can review which she does multiple times both before and after their time together. If you are not interested in micro adjustment to the golf swing, these are not for you. Jordan is working to compress the ball which will improve her distance. For most of us shooting consistently in the mid 70’s is something out of a childhood fantasy and we could not imagine wanting to mess with it. For Carl, it is the gateway to the 60’s and that is what Jordan is working towards. Over the last 10 months Carl has broken Jordan’s swing down completely, and started from the ground up rebuilding it into something repeatable and consistent. Now he is making micro adjustments to continue the process. You have been warned. Watch at your own risk.

Thats all we have for this week. Thanks for the interest, the comments and the support.

When it rains in Orlando, it really rains.
At Hot Pot on Wednesday night…Cant only be golf!
