Jordan shot a plus 3 today at The AJGA Junior All Star at Shirkey! (Click for details, pics, etc.)

Allen got it right; TODAY WAS moving up day for the B. Jordan shot a 3 over par 74 round today. The wedges and the putter were deadly for her. Carl watched some of the video last night and gave her two putter thoughts that proved to be the secret sauce. She did not have a single three putt today and 5 one putts. Jordan will go into tomorrow’s final round in 15th place, only three strokes out of 10th. A top ten finish in this level of competition would be a great accomplishment at this point in her young golf career. Next week will mark the one year anniversary of Jordan’s very first competitive round of golf.

Jordan went bogey free through the first 8 holes of the tournament. (When you look at the score card below, don’t be confused, she started on 10). On 18 (her ninth hole) she had some trouble and carded a double bogey. This was the same hole she tripled yesterday so it was an improvement but was the only impediment to what had been a flawless side. After making the turn, she shot another 6 straight pars before she bogeyed 7. She parred 8 & 9 for a great finish. In the end, 16 pars, 1 double, and one bogey. Of course, she is focused on the two imperfect holes and what she could have done better. This is why she will be a champion…but the blogger here has some bias it seems.

As for this town of Richmond Missouri, they are the nicest most hospitable people we have ever come across. After the round we went to the top BBQ place in town called the Oink & Moo. As we walk in, three fellows sitting at a table look up at us and ask Jordan, “How did the round go?” When she tells them they immediately engage us in conversation telling us how excited they are that we are all here and how much it means to the town. The one guy then asks if we like mushrooms and insists on giving Jordan’s dad one to try. Next, the other guy disappears for a minute and comes back with a plate of homemade potato chips for the B. Further into our chat he tells us that he owns the restaurant. His friend was selling it so he “had to buy it as there were so few restaurant choices in town.” Jordan then proceeds to order half of the menu (she tends to do that when she wants to try new stuff) and the guys stay and chat with us throughout most of the meal. They are truly interested in the level of play by these young kids. They leave five minutes before we are done. When we ask the waitress for a bill, she replies, “Mr. Huffmann (the man we had been speaking to, the owner) has taken care of it.” Really a great experience for us. Jordan wrote him a thank you note including the address of this blog. Mr. Huffmann, if you are reading this, THANK YOU! That was super generous of you.

T time tomorrow is at 8:00 am from the 10th Tee Box. Jordan returns to Pound Ridge late tomorrow night.

  3. I knew it – you could do it – B you are having such a special time in your young life. Just being treated as you were by the people in the town at that restaurant is an experience you will never forget. This is such a wonderful country this UNITED STATES. Where else in the world can you go safely and be treated with such admiration. Your golf is giving you lots of different experiences – leave it to Grandma to see many sides to a story. While I do not understand golf too well – I do get other things out of the blog and as long as you B are hitting those balls and getting good scores – I am getting pleasure out of the blogs your journalist writes on a daily basis of your tournaments as well as some of the toppings!!! grandma jerie
