In summary, it was just not a great round. Jordan shot a 9 over that puts her in 18th place after day one. Her wedges came up short half a dozen times and it felt like almost every hole she had to work to save. Putting was on again off again.
The highlight of the day was the 🦅(eagle, that means 2 shots under par for the hole for the non-golfers) on the 6th hole. B hit a tremendous drive followed up a 225 yard bomb from “The Equalizer” (the name Carl gave to Jordan’s 4 wood) that stopped 8 feet from the cup. Jordan then stepped up with authority and made the putt. At Yirong’s insistence it was captured on video below. Jordan’s Eagle was the only one of all of the field today.
The other highlight was Jordan’s par save on 12. Probably the best of her life….The drive ended up on a tree root very close to the trunk. She hit it off with a big club but it only went about 30 yards forcing her to hit her 3rd shot long, far, and totally blind as there was zero visibility where she was to the the green. The ball sailed over the top of the green and landed 30 yards away almost to the green of a neighboring hole. The fourth shot, a chip landed about six inches short of the green. The fifth shot, for par, was a green-side chip-in perfectly executed. Very exciting.
This tournament is being held in the town of Richmond Missouri and for the local people here it is a big deal. Many families come out to watch, there are welcome signs outside of peoples homes and at the gas stations. They make the players feel like they are celebrities. They provide meals for the players and their families, greet them every day, hand out water and volunteer as if it is a PGA event. . A local golf youth group also gets to participate. Fans come out on a trailer that gets pulled by a tractor. Below are some images of the goings on.

That’s about it for today. To quote our dear friend Allen Sirkin, “TOMORROW IS MOVING UP DAY!” There is still a ton of golf left in this tournament and Jordan is by no means out of it. Good night for now.
Looks like a fun experience with the town .
Never saw anything like that .
Good luck

I love the way the town treats this event – you are a celebrity with the people and knowing you I know you appreciate this kind of recognition from people who can watch the sport but cannot always be involved in something like this as this is an expensive sport. But they are able to recognize the sport and welcome the people who come to their town to play. Beautiful!!! Nice experience for you and them and your Dad who I know feels just like you and me.
