Today was a very long round of golf that ended after six and a half hours and only 15 completed holes. (Click for the story and pictures and video).

Very slow play compounded by heavy rains and two thunderstorm delays made today’s practice round a marathon for Jordan. Good news is that since she had played yesterday, it was really not a big deal as she got to see the course a second time. Hole number one was a bit hectic and Jordan carded a triple but then got herself into a groove and went on to have only one additional bogey on the front nine finishing with an even 40 for the side. After an 80 minute storm delay, she went on to birdie 10, bogey 11 and par 12,13,14, & 15 before the weather shut it down for good. As our good friend Yirong (Danny) Zheng likes to say, “The practice round does not matter,” so it is all about tomorrow and the two days that follow.

The long drive qualifier that was a disorganized mess unfortunately where some kids got three shots and some just one like Jordan. Her shot was a pop up that did not go where it should of and she did not place.

Tonight there was an opening ceremony for the tournament where we learned that 575 athletes in total from 23 different countries were competing in this years Optimist Junior International Championship. They had a parade of flags that was led out by a couple of bag pipers. Really quite moving. Below is a video of the parade of nations and a few pictures of today’s outfit. Also, the trophies of course!
