Jordan’s Golf Journey

April 21, 2023

After a bit of a rough start, Jordan clawed her way back to end the day at even par after the first 18 at Canebrake. (Click for pics and more).

As usual, Jordan did not make it easy on her supporters as she opened today’s tournament with a bogey on hole one. On hole two, a par five, she barely saved par after her second shot ended up in the sand. She parred 3 & 4, then bogeyed 5 to go to 2 over through […]

Jordan arrived in Athens Alabama last night and prepares for the AJGA Junior at Canebrake presented by Piedmont Bank. (Click for pics and more).

For those of you who have never been to Alabama and are considering a visit, be sure you like BBQ as that is the staple here in Athens for the culinary scene. When Jordan landed last night she was chasing it and after passing half a dozen churches and gun shops she dove into a […]

Jordan will return to competition this week, but not to North Carolina as planned. (Click for details).

Jordan was offered a place last week in the AJGA Junior at Canebrake in Alabama so she pulled out of the Peggy Kirk Bell so that she could play this event instead. Jordan asked this blogger not to publish her schedule going forward and this is exactly why…The speed at which it changes and will […]

JORDAN TURNS 16, and a very exciting summer season begins to come into focus.

Incredible cake made for the B by her Uncle Tracy. Jordan had a birthday “couple of weeks” of note with visits from David Sirkin, Yirong (Dan), Iris, & Sarah Zheng, Ed Reda visited last week, and coach Jerry Yochum just left last night after three days with Jordan and Carl. Unfortunately Gramma Jerie and Cool […]

Jordan is the runner up at The Rio Pinar 54 hole Junior Open shooting a day low AND Tournament low -4 with 5 🐥’s. (Click for details and Pics).

She was ready for a battle and brought her A game to Rio Pinar for the final 18 today. When the morning started, she was 7 strokes off the leader (we accidentally blogged 6 yesterday but it was 7) and damn near won trailing by only 2 strokes when she ran out of holes. Michael […]

Jordan is in solo third place at the close of day two at Rio Pinar shooting one over par. (Click for pics and details).

Today was a day of simple straight forward execution. Only one moment of terror for the parents (Hole 15, par 5, will explain later). During the round, B had two bogeys, 1 birdie, no three putts, no lost balls, no long putts where you hold your breath and cheer when it goes in, no chip […]

Day one at Rio Pinar finishes after dark with Jordan in a tie for 3rd place six strokes behind the leader. (Click for full story and pics).

Jordan finished the front 9 today at 2 strokes under par in a tie with the leader, who is currently ranked #18 in the world for the class of 2026. 3 🐥’s and one bogey and only 14 putts were the statistics for the front. She would go on to par 10, bogey 11, par […]

Tomorrow Jordan will T off at 1:29 PM at Rio Pinar. Tournament will be 54 holes over 3 days. (Click for videos)

Time to get back to competition. B has played this course twice now and Carl feels that she has the layout down. Greens are lumpy and slow so distance control on the putting will be paramount. Jordan played a second practice round under Carl’s watchful eye on Tuesday and Carl videoed most of her swings. […]

Four and half weeks since Bermuda and Jordan is preparing to get back to the T Box this Saturday for the 54 hole Rio Pinar Junior Open in Orlando this weekend.

Since she came back from Bermuda she and Carl have been extremely focused on putting and the plane of her swing. Mind numbering practice for hours on end to get the club to stay on a direct line neither coming over the top or under the plane. Sounds like a ton of work because it […]

In the end Jordan finished in 11th place in what turned out to be a tournament of survival. (Click for pics and details).

This was not about golf but rather about just finishing . Conditions were brutal. There is no way anyone would have played golf today if it was for pleasure and it is doubtful anyone in the US would have played a tournament under these conditions but everyone had traveled far and they played. Kids who […]
