The great coach John Wooden once said, “Character is what you do when nobody is watching.” Jordan is putting in the effort for sure. Today, six more hours of very tough work getting ready for some big tournaments. Bethpage next weekend, followed by the Optimist Tournament of Champions in mid November in Palm Beach at PGA. After that, she will compete in the IMG Thanksgiving Tournament at Championsgate, and The Hurricane Tour National Championship the first weekend in December. Day 3 for B of the Winter slog was all about compression. This is when you actually compress the golf ball between the club and the ground and it compresses then explodes as it rolls up the front of the club head and climbs into the sky. If you have ever watched a professional golfer hit the ball you will notice that it will actually jump and accelerate during its upward trajectory. Not an easy thing to master, but if you can, it makes your game that much more powerful. It requires the player to hit down on the ball (which is how the golf clubs are actually made to be hit) rather then to “Scoop” the ball as most recreational golfers do. Much more technical then most care about, but it gives context to the videos from today. (Click for videos).

Jordan ends her first day at Eisenhower in a three way tie for 6th place, 3 strokes out of third, 5 out of second, and seven stroke behind the leader. (Click for full story, leaderboard, and pics).
