So much to share about where she is right now, but first we need to close the loop on The US Woman’s Amateur Qualifier from Lago Mar six days ago as we have been bombarded with questions about that one…..
Jordan began with a 🐥on hole ten (she started on the back), then proceeded to bogey 11 and 12 getting her to +1. She went on to par the rest of the side so she was +1 at the turn. The leader was -3 by then and Jordan was in a ten way tie for 15th place. Top 4 were going to get to advance to Bandon Dunes so dad had mentally checked out and put The Grateful Dead on his AirPods as he followed Caddy Uncle David and the B. She parred 1, 2, & 3 so she had only 6 holes to play and needed to birdie at least 3 of them to hope to go into a playoff for a spot or birdie 4 out of six to tie the winner and guarantee a spot without going into a playoff. Those are not good odds…. Still +1 on the day and the leader had hit an outrageous -3 and was finished. She was so far ahead of the field that they actually told her she could leave and gave her the first place medal.
Well, same as the qualifier a few weeks earlier at the US Girls Junior Championship Qualifier, Jordan had a different plan….She hit her approach shot on hole 4 (her 13th hole to 6 inches and tapped it in for 🐥 putting her at even, and in 12th place. She hit her approach shot on hole 5 to 4 inches and again tapped it in for 🐥. With Jerry Garcia whaling Touch of Grey in the background and 4 holes left to play Jordan took an extremely aggressive line over the water on 15 to put herself just 70 yards out after her second shot where she made an expert short iron shot to 3 feet and made her third 🐥 in a row to go into a 5 way tie for second place with 3 holes to play.
Remember, if she finished here, she would go into sudden death overtime with the 4 others for the 3 remaining spots. Basically 5 fighting for 3. If she bogeyed any one of them she was finished. 16 was a par. On 17, she missed the green on her approach shot. She was 6 feet off the green and needed to go up and down to save par. Cool as a cucumber, she chipped it in for 🐥, her 4th in 5 holes putting her in a tie for the lead at -3. The spectators (that now included the two poor woman who were playing with her) were in a state of shock. Caddy Uncle David just smiled, but there was still a hole to play and anything could have happened. A bogey put her back into the playoff situation, a place she did NOT want to be. It was 102 degrees and a thunderstorm was imminent (actually cracking overhead). B hit on to the green with way way too much power sending the ball 65 feet past the hole to the back of the green. Now, with Scarlett Begonias banging in the background, and statistically a 60% chance of a three putt from that distance, she smacks it 12 feet past the hole. Not great. PGA tour professionals will make that putt 33% of the time. Anyway, you know how it ends, she sunk it and ended in a tie for first place winning the qualifier and will now go to Bandon Dunes in August for the biggest non-professional tournament in golf. The PGA apologized for giving away her medal and will mail her one. Ok, that story is now complete on to today…..
On Wednesday evening Coach Carl Rabito flew from Chicago into NY to get Jordan ready for this weeks tournament, The US Girls Junior Championship. They worked at RockRimmon all day Thursday and half of Friday before flying to Atlanta. The flight was terribly turbulent and with the holding pattern due to Thunderstorms, the hour and 45 minute flight took almost four hours.
A very nauseous Jordan then drove the 45 minutes to the VRBO that dad had secured to find a house of horrors. The place was hot, filthy, covered in animal hair and dander, garbage still in the cans, dirty sheets, half eaten chocolate bar in the clothing drawer, and the stink of dead rodents. After an Hour of trying to figure out how to make it work dad put everyone back in the car at midnight and went in search of a hotel. Meanwhile, Uncle Caddy David’s flight that was supposed to land in minutes of B’s got diverted to Charlotte. With less then 12 hours until the practice round was scheduled to begin, he got off the plane rather then waiting to see what was next at 9 PM grabbed a rental car from Enterprise and headed south for the 3.5 hour ride to Atlanta. He was about 10 minutes from the house of horrors when B texted him and said, “Pull over and standby for new coordinates.” Luckily the Crown Plaza had 4 rooms available for this motley crew and that is now home base.

B with her eyes almost swollen shut from the animals at the house of horrors with Coach Carl from the lobby of the Crown Plaza at 1am on Saturday morning 7 hours before her practice round. Notice the only thing of importance is on her back.
Yesterday she played that first practice round getting a feeling for this special place with all of its incredible history and pedigree. Today she played a second practice round under the watchful eyes of Coach Carl and with David on the bag once again. The team of Coach Uncle David and Jordan has had the extraordinary success of qualifying for not one but two USGA events in the course of about a month.
This tournament is basically the US OPEN for 18 and under girls. This is THE SHOW for juniors and 156 of the very best in the world are here. Jordan had the privilege of playing with #4 & #6 in the world these past two days and not to be too biased, lets just say that she fit right in. The USGA pulled out all of the stops for the this. Those who qualified, 156 of the almost 1600 who applied are being treated like professional athletes. Coach Carl who has been to all of the majors over the years with a number of tour pros commented that “This is as good as any major event on the LPGA. They have spent literally millions of dollars to put on this event.” It is pretty hard to explain it to you so we will share a ton of pictures. This is the time to x out if pics are not for you. First, we will share a link to the website for the tournament, then a link to the leaderboard. B’s T time is 9:20 tomorrow off of 10. Day one and two are stroke play. After the second day there will be a cut down to 64 players for match play. The bracket will be determined by where each player finishes the stroke play tournament. Think US Open Tennis bracket. 91 players go home on Tuesday night. The rest fight it out with every round eliminating half of the remaining players until the final two play on Saturday.

Last night the USGA hosted an incredible welcome party with a DJ, BBQ, Sushi, games, fishing, putting etc. The President of USGA gave an instructional talk emphasizing the incredible accomplishment of making it to play in this event and highlighting a number of today’s top players having played it. Great time was had by all.

There was a graffiti artist painting hats. Jordan had one made up for Uncle Caddy David. Get it?

Coach Carl and B had a putting contest with putters made for toddlers….Coach won. B begged for rematch. Coach said, “NO.”

Can’t say enough about the members of this incredible country club that is hosting the event. Literally hundreds of volunteers who just can’t do enough for you. They are excited to host the event and show off their spot with incredible southern hospitality.

That’s all for now. Not sure how we can thank Uncle Caddy David anymore than we have as words are simply inadequate for his generosity towards Jordan. He has given her half of his summer and she will be forever grateful as is SuperMom and dad. You are an incredible friend and we just hope you are enjoying this ride as much as we are enjoying having you aboard. Coach Carl, incredible job. Each day he spends time getting everything just right. At this level even a single stroke matters. Your dedication to Jordan is very very special. To everyone else, your interest in Jordan continues to humble us and the support and love you show with your texts, comments and emails keeps it all fun. Be back tomorrow night with highlights from the first round.

I have tears of excitement in my eyes reading all this…seriously! Jordan, you are just one amazing talent, regardless of how this tournament turns out. You have already won in our eyes! Coach Carl and Uncle Caddy David…Jordan is just so lucky to have you on her Dream Team…we love hearing of your involvement and commitment to helping Jordan..she is one lucky girl. Keep all the pictures coming…they really bring your words to life and bring all of us along on the journey. The creativity they have put into this tournament is really incredible (love the ribbon bar and the table where they make bracelets for the younger members!). And from when I lived in Atlanta, I do remember everything is “peach”, and so many streets with peach in the name it was so easy to get lost. Good luck Jordan and we’ll be anxiously awaiting the evening updates and pictures!
