GAINSVILLE, FL. CHAMPION!! B is going to the show! Jordan Qualifies for a spot at the US Girls Jr. Championship next month in Atlanta. (Click for pics and details).

It has only taken four years to go from a non golfer to winning a spot at the biggest golf event on the planet for juniors golfers. In a sport where getting proficient takes decades and to get good takes a lifetime Jordan has done it in 61 months.

There are only three USGA events that amateurs can try to qualify for: The US Woman’s Open, The US woman’s Amateur (Jordan will try to qualify next month somewhere in the Midwest) and the US Girls Jr. Championship. 43 qualifiers will take place all across the country as well as in Canada, Mexico, and Japan between May 22nd and June 30th to determine the field of 156 players. 46 are already exempt so 1609 players are attempting to earn just 110 spots and Jordan locked down one of those coveted positions today with a first place victory in Gainsville besting the field of 40 extremely talented players shooting the only round of even par.

With Uncle David on the bag and SuperMom on the rail B took the T at 8:51 this morning at Mark Bostick at UF and would par #1. Hole 2, a par 3 was a 🐥. Hole 3 was a par 5 that she parred. Hole 4, was a par 4. B hit a tremendous drive and was 167 yards from the flag. Caddy Uncle David told her to play it 185 and handed her the 7 wood. Jordan smoked it to perfection, holing it out for an 🦅! At this point she was -3 through 4 and three strokes ahead of the next player. 5,6,7,& 8 were all pars. She was in solo first place with a three way tie for second at -1 before hole nine…..

Hole nine in B’s own words..” I Hit it over the green on to back up against the cart path curb. The had marked the curb as ob (out of bounds) but bc my ball was touching grass it was still in bounds. They wouldn’t give me relief because part of cart path was out of bounds so I had to chip with my 5 wood with nothing behind ball which went off the front of green into bunker. I came out of the sand onto the green and had a severe downhill putt that I missed and need 2 more putts to finish. 3 putt, a triple.”

Just like that, Jordan went from a two stroke lead to 4th place, one stroke behind at the turn. Remember, ONLY the top two players get to advance.

10 and 11 were both pars. 12, a bogey. Now she had dropped to 5th place, 2 strokes out. 13,14 & 15 were all pars and the field faltered a bit so B was now back in a 4 way tie for the lead at +1. Then, she bogeyed 16 to again be back at 4th place with only two holes to play. Two of the girls were already finished at +1 so Jordan needed a birdie at 17 or 18 just to try to get into a playoff.

She 🐥17, back to a 4 way tie. Now, there were 3 possibilities for 18, the final hole. First, a bogey or worse and she would be in 4th place, done. Second, a par and she would have been in a sudden death playoff with three others to contest the 2 qualifying positions, or Third, a birdie to take the solo championship.

Eighteen was a 380 yard par 4. Jordan had a good drive to the left side of the fairway. The second shot was 174 yds with 15 yds of slope, up the hill and into a slight wind. Jordan and Caddy Dave, took a minute to discuss their options for an optimum outcome, knowing that Jordan had to Birdie the hole for the outright lead. Taking a 5 wood to play the shot 190 yds uphill, Jordan hit a beautiful shot, to 20 ft. With a downhill putt for the win, Jordan stated to David, that she “was going to make the putt”. BIRDIE! FOR THE WIN! This is how you win. As Coach Carl has pounded into Jordan, “DO IT WHEN IT COUNTS.” And that my friends is exactly what Jordan did today.

The three just arrived back in Orlando and it looks like Thai food is on the order for dinner. SuperMom is frantically unpacking and throwing stuff in the wash as B leaves tomorrow at 3pm for Punta Gorda for 5 rounds of an AJGA. Practice rounds on Sunday and Monday, with the tournament being played Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. No Caddy for this one so UncleCaddyDavid gets some time off. He just agreed to continue his summer job and see this one through at the Atlanta Athletic Club in July for the US Girls Jr. Championship. The U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship will be televised on GOLF Channel and Peacock. The championship coverage is scheduled for July 18-19, 2025. We will bring details closer to the event.

That’s all for now. Jordan is so grateful for all of the calls, texts, emails and comments on her blog. Have to again thank David for “looping” B’s bag and being such a big part of her journey. We will be back on Monday night with details of Monday’s t time from Punta Gorda.
