Jordan had a rough second half today to card +3 (75) and end day 1 in 24th place at the Elite Invitational. (Click for pics and details).

This was a very long and tough round. Conditions were hot and humid and the course was very wet from a ton of rain last night. As it dried out, the greens firmed up and the roll changed completely forcing constant change and adjustment. To add insult to injury, it was also super slow taking over five and a half hours to complete.

Jordan started on the back, hole 10, and things looked pretty good for her. She parred 10 & 11, 🐥’d 12, parred 13, 14, 15, & 16, bogeyed 17, then got it back on 18 with a second 🐥 to finish the side at -1……Then came the turn and the wheels came off the bus for B. 1 was a bogey, 2 a par, 3 a bogey, 4 a 🐥 (the only one of the side, then she went for a hat trick of Bogs on 5,6,&7 before parring the last two holes. The mess came from the putting where she missed two very makable birds on the first 9, and lipped out a two foot putt on the second half. No sugar coating this one, it could have very easily been -3 or even -4 if the putting was on. With that said, she did manage to roll two long range birds that were spectacular.

Score Card from Today

The competition here is very very stiff and the course is a true tour level place with 200 yard carrys over fescue to clear and small greens surrounded by hazards. There is no room for error and for the most part Jordan avoided trouble until she got on the greens. There were a few moments of brilliance with some incredible chips and a very hot driver. There is still plenty of golf to play and this tournament is FAR from over. The opportunity of a top ten finish, even a top 5 or taking the championship is still very much in Jordan’s grasp.

After the round Jordan spoke with Coach Carl and she is confident that she was able to work through what was problematic for her. After 2 hours of practice she came home, did more homework, had dinner, and got to bed early as she will leave for the course at 7am tomorrow for her 8:48 T time off of hole number 1.

Here is the same hole looking back to the T box. If you land in the fescue it is a lost ball. No chance.

That’s all for now. A huge thank you for all of the texts and comments today. We will be back tomorrow night with a recap of the day. Though biased, we try to tell it like it is even when it does not go exactly as Jordan had it planned. Until tomorrow, good night.
