Jordan birdied 3 out of the first 4 holes yesterday and was actually-2 after the first 7 holes. On 8 she ran into a bit of trouble as her ball got plugged in a green side bunker where it took two shots to get it free and she carded a double bogey.
The back 9 was not B’s best work. She had 4 bogeys and a second double as well as a 4th birdie. Four balls found their way into the woods today as her aim was a bit off.
Jordan clearly has the skills to put up very low rounds. Every round is not going to be record setting regardless of how badly she would like it to be. In the round she was tied for the most number of birdies, and she is only 4 strokes off the lead with 18 holes still to play. T time today is at 2:50 and she is in the final group, a foursome. Conditions are super tough with real feel temps over 100 degrees. Super Mom will again bravely battle the elements to follow along and cheer and support the B. Hats off to her incredible and unwavering support.
Friday and Saturday were very exciting for Jordan as she attended a mini camp up at Yale University. She got to play the course along with about 15 other girls up to age 18. On Friday they played 18 holes and then had the opportunity to ask coach Harling (head coach of Yale woman’s golf) lots of questions about the college recruiting process. Though it was not a tournament, Jordan shot -1 on the round. Yale golf course is a storied venue and the clubhouse is full of history and tradition that almost oozes through the walls.
On Saturday morning there was an hour long Q&A for both the players and their parents. Super Mom and her husband got to attend and they learned a ton. As for speaking to Yale or any other possible places for Jordan to attend college, under NCAA rules coaches are not permitted to speak to students until June after their sophomore year (2023 for B) about their individual prospects. Kudos to coach Harling for the way she handled this group of type A personalities with grace, kindness, and patience. The team and the players are very lucky to have her.
After the Q&A session the girls played 9 more holes (Jordan carded +1) before the program ended at 1pm. Of course Jordan insisted on going to Rockrimmon afterwards to practice then play 9 holes (she shot -1) before coming home at 6.
On Sunday Jordan was hosted at Stanwich for a practice round by our friend Jason Fay. Jordan is playing an AJGA fundraiser there a bit later in August. The course was beautiful and Jason was not only a great host but also a really skilled player. He and Jordan would battle it out in a good natured contest. B played from 6100 yards and shot +1 for the 18 holes with 3 birdies including the 18th which is a great way to finish. The course rating is 77 (a very difficult track) which put her differential at -3.8, a GREAT result for her. Playing with people of Jason’s caliber who work through every hole and take the game and Jordan seriously brings out the best in her. A big thank you to Jason who Jordan would like to play with again very soon.
That’s all for now. Cross your fingers for a Sirkin “moving up day”. Thank you for your interest and your support.
B seems to be having a lovely summer.😘
